Project SPECIAL invites to the W3C Data Privacy Vocabularies and Controls Community Group

On the application date of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) on May 25th 2018, SPECIAL launched a W3C Data Privacy Vocabularies and Controls Community Group (DPVCG). This is a follow-up action of a very successful workshop on ‘Data Privacy Controls and Vocabularies’ that SPECIAL held together with W3C in April 2018.

SPECIAL (‘Scalable Policy-awarE linked data ArChitecture for prIvacy, trAnsparency and compLiance’) is a European research and innovation project funded under the Horizon2020-ICT-2016-1 Big Data PPP call to address privacy-preserving Big Data technologies.

The objective of the DPVCG itself is to develop a taxonomy of privacy terms, which includes in particular terms from the new European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), such as a taxonomy of personal data as well as a classification of purposes (i.e., purposes for data collection), and events of disclosures, consent, and processing such personal data.

The SPECIAL project would like to invite all interested stakeholders to contribute, particularly those people who expressed interest at the Vienna workshop, but as all W3C CGs, we aim at an open community with the intention to grow to a critical mass to finally bring its results into a W3C working group for standardization.
