The co-founder and Executive Chairman of a leading European language technology company Tilde specializing in machine translation and other technologies for complex languages.

He has initiated and coordinated several large-scale industry and academic cooperation projects with leading European research centres in novel areas of language technologies (LetsMT, ACCURAT, TaaS, EuroTermBank).

Andrejs is deputy chair of the Multilingual Europe Technology Alliance (META-NET), a board member of LT-Innovate industry association and the Big Data Value Association, a member of Latvia State Language Commission. He has also served as an elected member of the Bureau of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Council for Information for All programme (2010-2014).

Andrejs has received a PhD in Computer Sciences from the University of Latvia and has authored more than 50 research papers. He is also an Honorary Doctor of the Academy of Sciences of Latvia.
