Equipped with sensors, the vehicles are paving the way for fully autonomous trams. Cameras, Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs), Radar and Lidar collect data as the tram passes through the city. The information is combined with data gathered from smart tram stops along the way and finally crunched with complex AI methods into useful, real-time information. The goal is to create modern urban transportation, where vehicles know their location even without GPS and can alert drivers about emerging hazards.
