The generation and acquisition of ‘Big Data’, the requirement to make predictions in the presence of uncertainty and the limitations of traditional modelling approaches have fuelled a growth in the number of applications of predictive modelling, e.g. in climate science, health and social care, environmental science, engineering, life science, geology, reservoir engineering, economics and finance, to name only a few. These increasingly complex and challenging applications have in turn motivated the search for new robust, accurate and computationally efficient predictive modelling methods, with research activity at all levels from fundamental theory through to algorithm design and implementation. The MSc in Predictive Modelling is tailored to provide students with a rigorous and comprehensive training in this rapidly growing interdisciplinary area. Our students will gain exposure to a broad range of application areas, equipping them for further study or employment in an expanding range of industries.
