The work on the COPD pilot, led by the University of Southampton, demonstrated that machine learning can predict acute chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) exacerbation events several days in advance. COPD is a common lung condition, mainly affecting middle-aged or older smokers, and is predicted to become the third leading cause of death by 2030.

Now the University of Southampton continues the work done in the BigMedilytics pilot by advancing the clinical model, developing a digital platform that incorporates AI components and furthers the adoption of the solution. Find out more below, how the work started by BigMedilytics project, is continued!
